HTML eMail is something I’ve done a small amount of on a per request basis in the past. I’m currently working with Intercept Communications from a template we initially developed that we found worked pretty well across various eMail clients including different versions of Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo! and Hotmail.

With HTML eMail the drive (oddly) is back to HTML tables, which is an area I’ve long put behind me and by large I skipped over during my early years in favour of CSS. The premise is that eMail clients, especially Internet based ones, strip out lots of styling that may otherwise restyle the actual website you are viewing your eMail in. By using HTML Tables we can ensure the structure of the eMail remains in tact even if the styling information is removed.

As for sending the eMail out we’re currently using Sign-Up.To as it’s a system the powers that be are familiar with, I’m interested in giving MailChimp a workout in the future (I suspect I’ve been taken in by the marketing!).
